How to set up a 930A and PC to capture Menu Option 4 (Digit Receiver) results

930A Setup

You should configure the 930A's Remote Control option for Printer, 9600 baud, no parity, 8 data bits and 1 stop bit; In this process, you should also answer "YES" to the entire series of 930A prompts asking what it should print. Step-by-step instructions follow:

1. Select Menu Option 3 (Remote Control)

2. Press any of the four softkeys located directly below the display. You should see a display similar to the following: REMOTE MODE: OFF SET-UP EXIT

3. Repeatedly press softkey 2 (the one directly under "OFF" in the display) to cycle through the options until you see "PRINTER".

4. Press softkey 3 (directly under "SET-UP"). You should see a display similar to the following: SELECT BAUD RT PARITY BIT# EXIT

5. Press softkey 1 to select the baud rate. You should see a display similar to the following: SET BAUD RATE: 9600

6. If the baud rate is other than "9600", use the 930A's numeric keypad to enter 9600, then press softkey 2 to invoke it. The 930A returns you to the "SELECT" screen.

7. Press softkey 2 to set the parity. You should now see a display similar to the following: PARITY: OFF EVEN ODD

8. Press softkey 2 to select "OFF". The 930A will again return you to the "SELECT" screen.

9. Press softkey 3 to set the number of data bits. You should now see a display similar to the following: BITS PER CHARACTER: 7 8

10. Press softkey 4 to select "8". The 930A will advance the display to the "STOP BITS:" screen. II. Press softkey 2 to select "1". The 930A will again return you to the "SELECT" screen.

11. Press softkey 4 to "EXIT".

12. Press softkey 4 to "EXIT". You should now see a display similar to the following: PRINT ERRORS? YES NO

13. Press softkey 3 to select "YES". You should now see a display similar to the following: PRINT RECEIVED RECORDS? YES NO

14. Press softkey 3 to answer "YES". You should now see a display similar to the following: PRINT DIGIT ANALYSIS? YES NO

15. Press softkey 3 to answer "YES". You should now see a display similar to the following: PRINT WINK TIMING? YES NO

16. Press softkey 3 to answer "YES". The 930A now returns you to the opening "Option Menu #" screen.

17. You may now proceed to set up Menu Option 4 (Digit Receiver) with the parameters you desire.

PC Communications Program Setup

1. Configure your PC communications program for:

A. The desired com port

B. 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit

2. Set up your communications program to log the communications session to a disk file.

Cable Connections

Obtain a standard (straight-through, as opposed to null modem) RS-232C cable which has a male DB-25 connector for the 930A end, and a matching connector for you PC communications port. Then, use it to connect your PC to the 930A.
