Establishing a Remote Audio Monitor Line

Establishing a remote Audio Monitor line is a three-step process: 1) program the desired dialing string, 2) invoke the monitor function and 3) send that string of digits. These steps are described in detail below:

1. You should first enter the desired dialing string:

A. Press the Dial/Ring button (in the vertical row of buttons at the left of the front panel, 2nd button from the top).

B. Press the CLR button (a grey button, located near the bottom right of the numeric keypad) to clear any previous entry. The display should now see a display similar to the one illustrated below:

RPT? DTMF PCM1

C. If there are any numbers/characters to the left of RPT?, press the CLR button (a grey button near the bottom right of the numeric keypad).

D. If DTMF is not displayed, or if you want the 930A to outpulse dial-pulse digits, repeatedly press the softkey under DTMF until the desired type of digits is displayed.

E. Now, enter the desired digits using the numeric keypad. If you make a mistake, press the CLR button and re-enter the digits.

Note: To insert a pause between any two digits, press the left-arrow key (located near the bottom left of the display). Each press of the left-arrow key will insert a 1-second pause, represented as a dash (-) in the displayed number string.

F. Store the digit string in register 1 by first pressing the STO button (grey button located near the bottom right of the numeric keypad, then pressing the "1" key on the numeric keypad, followed by pressing the ENT button (grey button at the bottom left of the numeric keypad).

2. Establish the Remote Audio Connection

A. Press the Option Menu button (the bottom button in the vertical row of buttons at the left of the front panel).

B. Using the front panel numeric keypad, enter 39, then press the ENT key (a grey button, located near the bottom right of the numeric keypad). You should now see the display illustrated below:

MONITOR: ON-HK OFF-HK ANSWER IGNORE

C. Press the softkey directly under OFF-HK. B. Press the Dial/Ring button (2nd button from the top in the vertical row of buttons at the left front panel). You should now see a display similar to the illustration below:

14085551212 RPT? DTMF PCM1

If you don't see the desired number to the left of the displayed RPT?, press the RCL button (grey button near the middle right of the numeric key pad), then press 1 on the numeric keypad, followed by pressing the ENT button (grey button near the bottom right of the numeric keypad).

D. To dial out through the Remote Audio RJ-11 connector now, press the softkey directly under RPT?. When the far end answers, the audio monitor connection is established.

Note: You can only monitor one direction of transmission at a time. To change the direction monitored:

1. Press the Trunk Type button (top button in the vertical row of buttons at the left of the front panel), press the softkey under the displayed PCM, then press the softkey under the displayed RECV-1 to change to RECV-2. You can use this method to toggle between listening to the audio traffic on RECV-1 and RECV-2.

Hint: You can also establish a remote audio monitor line by having the far end dial the phone number associated with the 930A's RJ-11 jack. To allow this method of operation, set up the 930A as follows:

1. Press the Option Menu button (bottom button in the vertical row of buttons at the left of the front panel), and enter 39 using the numeric keypad. You should see the display illustrated below:

MONITOR: ON-HK OFF-HK ANSWER IGNORE

2. Press the softkey directly under ANSWER.
